This piece falls within my ‘Sketches” category. A simple small piece requiring less than three days to complete.

I have done other acorn pieces in the past. This one shows my current tendency toward simplicity of the sculptural form rather than mastery of finer detail. Of late I have been exploring larger areas of single contour and stronger textural reflection.

 The stem on this piece is some pretty good work, not as simple as it looks. In fact, I am very very pleased with it. I have been mastering the process required to create it for about two years and it presented no problems in this piece.
